Just messing about with blog stuff that; once again, you may not notice, plus I’m considering changing the colour scheme. I’m well aware that white on black is not exactly the best choice but on my screen; on my macbook, it looks fine.
A Python Finish!

Just finishing my final year project off and it’s taking much longer than I expected. That being said I’m having a relatively good time because I’m singing/whistling along to Monty Python songs.

Take A Weird Break
Posted by unluckydip | Filed under Uncategorized
I really dislike those real life story magazines such as take a break, that’s life and real lives to name but a few of the top of my head.
I realise it’s not “original” to slate these magazines, as I’m sure the vast majority of people; I’d hope, can see it’s nothing more than an accumulation of complete and utter bollocks.
I find myself flick through these magazines on an irregular when I’m in the staffroom at work because many of the female members of staff can’t seem to get enough of them. Often I end up getting as angry as a typical Daily Mail reader with the pure putrid garbage I see contained within them, often to much amusement to the people around me. A typical rant will see me reading the headlines such as “I Breastfeed My Dog to stop her barking” followed by me saying something along the lines of “Well, That’s Life!” “Stabbed for a Peanut”, “Well, That’s Life!”
There is a great blog called Take A Weird Break which documents some of the weirdest headlines from these magazines and I recommend you take a look because while they annoys me, it is rather entertaining to see them.
One of the posts on the blog; now hidden on a page deep into the blog, someone who once worked for one of these magazines writes a letter regarding reader submitted photos, here’s an extract to leave you with:
Every day I’d have about 100 envelopes to open, and quite literally, 10 of these each day were pictures of dogs wearing sunglasses. For some reason every TAB reader thought this was the funniest thing in the world, and they ALL suggested the following caption:
“Here’s Rover, making a spectacle of himself!!!!”

The Swine Flu Fractal.
Posted by unluckydip | Filed under News, Topical, Uncategorized, video
Interesting video from 1976 warning of an imminent swine flu outbreak in the US.
(Apologies for another video post, but I do think it’s interesting to see nonetheless)
Update: Via PlashingVole
It’s the Democrats. Well, according to Michelle Bachmann, the elected representative for Minnesota. She’s the lady who called Obama unAmerican, amongst other crazed ravings. (Via Pharyngula):
I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter, and I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it’s an interesting coincidence.

Blue Screen of Death at Olympics!
Posted by unluckydip | Filed under Uncategorized
Ok, so this news is over a week old, but i didn’t come across it till a few days ago and figured there are others who still might not have and would take interest in it, assuming your somewhat geeky.
As the amazing Olympic opening ceremony was closing in Beijing, someone snapped this photo of the infamous blue screen of death behind the trapezes artist about to light the Olympic beacon.

(Source: Gizmodo)
I’ll just end by saying that the Olympic opening ceremony, as many have been saying, was awesome. But i don’t understand the big fuss being caused about some of the performance, in particular the fireworks heading towards the stadium, being in CGI. In fact watching it i thought it was pretty obvious that it was CGI, but it would seem others didn’t know and the media have took upon themselves to point out this shocking scandal! Does it matter if parts of the opening ceremony were CGI generated? It was a spectacular opening to the games, and the CGI played a role that added to making the opening impressive.
